“Better Health Begins At The Cell.” -Dr. Bill Cole

(If you have or suspect you might have thyroid related problems go to ColeClass.com and watch the short video (about 23 minutes) that I made for you. It’s free… You don’t even have to give me your email.)

Because I get a lot of questions about this, the other day my wife and I went through a grocery store, and I picked out six of my suggested quick food exchanges.

  1. Beef

When it comes to beef, you want to look for grass-fed beef. It’s with the regular beef. And so there’s really not a lot you need to look for, other than where it says, “Grass Fed.” Most brands have it clearly marked. You can tend to find it at places like Walmart and Aldi’s are carrying this for a lot less money than most grocery or health food stores.

2. Bacon

I usually don’t encourage eating pig products in general, but if you’re going to go with bacon, you want it to say “Uncured”. That’s without the nitrates and nitrites which are the carcinogens that they put in bacon to cure it.

3. Chicken

People get confused because it’ll say on the chicken, “All natural,” right? Then it’ll say, “Contains no hormones,” but that’s not good enough, because no chicken should have hormones. What you want to look for are things that say, “No antibiotics.” That’s the big deal, right? You can even get an organic version of that. So, don’t be fooled by it saying, “No hormones.” It should say, “No antibiotics.”

4. Fish

When it comes to fish, you want to look for it to say “wild caught”. Some will say “Alaskan”. Some will say, “Pacific”. Look for things like “wild swordfish”. You want to keep away from the fish that says “farmed”, or “Atlantic”, especially when it comes to salmon. You want wild salmon.

You want to keep away from the farmed. If you something where it says, “smoky peppercorn salmon”, I will bet you a dime to a dollar that, it’s farmed salmon. It doesn’t say wild. So, I hope you get the gist of that.

The shrimp, and the lobster, and stuff like that, I’m not a big fan. I mean every now and again maybe, but mostly these are bottom dwellers. They eat the junk at the bottom of the ocean. That stuff is stored in their meat, and then you eat it. If you’re trying to detoxify, especially, it’s not the best thing.

5. Eggs & Butter

While grocery store eggs are not my favorite, if you’re going to go that route, you might want to go with cage-free organic eggs which are gonna be better for you than just your conventional store bought eggs. Eggland’s Best is a step up, but they’re not the best. The very best is going to be at a health food store where you’re going to get a truly pastured egg.

I also want to talk to you about butter. Grass-fed butter is going to be better for you than conventional butter. Kerrygold Butter is a common brand that is from grass-fed cows. Also, you don’t even want to think about using margarine.

6. Fermented Foods

Okay, so here’s another thing. I always recommend sauerkraut for you, especially you guys with gut problems. Most grocery stores have cooked sauerkraut, but some also carry raw kraut. That’s what you want. It’s going to have all of the natural bacteria that can repopulate your gut. Look for ones that say they’re naturally fermented and unpasteurized, so it’s not heated. It’s going to be better. It’s going to have a lot of the natural probiotics in it, as compared to regular sauerkraut. You can usually find it in the meat section. So, load up on this kind of raw sauerkraut. You might not want to do too much at first though, because if your gut isn’t ready for it, it can cause a problem. So, even just a fork full to start with per day, but when you get these foods in you, you’re going to help replenish the things that the antibiotics we’ve all been exposed to have destroyed in our guts.

I hope this helps.

Take care, guys. God Bless.
