This Is Why Your Synthroid Isn’t Working

“Better Health Begins At The Cell.” -Dr. Bill Cole

(If you think your problems are thyroid related go to ColeClass.com and watch the short video (about 23 minutes) that I made for you. It’s free… You don’t even have to give me your email.)

Hey guys, I want to talk with you a little bit about why, potentially, your Synthroid or Levothyroxine isn’t doing anything for you. Majority of people that we see, where they’re taking their medication, but they don’t feel any different and they still feel like crap, are feeling this way because the medications are not able, a lot of times, to get into the cell because their cells are inflamed. Our cells have a barrier, and when our cells are inflamed, the tight junctions (openings) in the barrier get stuck open, which causes bad things to be allowed in and lets good things out. This can cause many issues in itself, but today, I want to also talk about something called conversion.

How many of you know that Levo or Synthroid is actually thyroid hormone T4, right? Is T4 the active hormone that needs to get into your cell to give you energy, to help you lose weight, to give you a sense of wellbeing, all of these good things? No, T4 is actually considered to be more of a storage hormone. The active hormone is T3, and in particular unbound T3, which is called free T3. While we’re on this, how many of your doctors are even ever testing for T3? Or, let alone free T3?

It’s always a problem not knowing whether or not you’re converting. If you have an issue where T4, which you are taking, is not converting to T3, then you don’t have the gasoline that you need, and you’re running on empty. And a lot of you feel like you’re running on empty, and there is going to be a major reason for that right there. But it’s not checked. So the doctor, he should be checking for T3 and for free T3. That’s going to tell you a lot more than just doing a TSH test. Some doctors will do a T4, but that doesn’t tell you anything about whether you’re converting to the gasoline that you need.

Well, if you have a conversion problem, if they’re even testing you to begin with, and if they would, and you would find out that you have inadequate levels of T3 and free T3, then we know that there are some things that cause that. And these things, basically, go unaddressed in the medical profession because they’re just not identified. They’re not recognized. One of the things that can create this conversion problem is exposure to toxins, things like heavy metals. Aluminum in your deodorant is a major thing. That can inhibit T4 conversion to T3.

How many of your doctors have ever checked you for selenium? Low selenium levels won’t allow that conversion, which by the way, takes place primarily in the liver. It won’t allow that conversion to take place normally. And so getting your selenium levels checked is really important.

Most of you have probably never heard of the next thing. It’s called methylation. I won’t get too lost in the weeds, but we need what are called methyl groups. These methyl groups, which bind to your DNA, can actually change gene expression.

If you’ve got bad genes, we know that you can do things that are not healthy for you, to turn those bad genes on. But we also now know through the field of study called epigenetics, that you can do healthy things that can turn those bad genes off. So, the idea before was genes were your destiny. We know that that’s not true today, but you need to have proper methylation. You need to have these methyl groups in your body. And a lot of you that are sick, most of you that are sick, are under-methylated.

And then the last thing is what I talk about all the time, which is just inflammation of the cells of your body. When your cells are inflamed, they function in an abnormal way. If your cells are functioning in an abnormal way, that means, you may not be converting T4 to T3. And this is going to explain for a lot of you why taking these medications are not helping you one iota. Girls, you’ve got to deal with these underlying causes. If you want to get better, you have to start thinking about this whole dynamic in terms of, “What is really wrong with me?”

Listen, I can tell you something. Just taking a handful of supplements every day, while we utilize supplements in my clinic, they’re not going to do the job for you.

The issues that most of you have are deep in the body. They’re at the cell level of your body, including your brain cells, where all function takes place, right. The brain controls and coordinates all of our functions. Those of you out there that are having sleep issues, you’ve got brain fog. You have anxiety and depression. Do you think you have a healthy brain? You don’t.

And if you have an unhealthy brain, you’re ultimately going to see that manifested in changes in function in your body.

And we can go into the whole gut thing because about 20% of the conversion of T4 to T3 takes place in your gut. If you have an unhealthy gut, you may be dealing with the inability to convert properly. I mentioned toxins, right. Most of our conversion takes place in our liver. What does our liver do? It’s our major detoxifying organ. If you are dealing with too many toxins, your liver may be hampered, and you may not be able to convert from T4 to T3.

These are deeper underlying issues that, I promise you, a handful of supplements is not going to take care of. They can be a supplement to an otherwise healthy program, but they will never, by themselves, be your answer. I can almost guarantee that.

We have an online workshop. I get into deeper issues like this to help people understand why they’re suffering, and why what they’re doing right not is not helping them. Check it out at ColeClass.com

I hope this helps.

Take care, guys. God bless.
