“Better Health Begins At The Cell.” -Dr. Bill Cole

(Before I forget… if you think your problems are thyroid related go to ColeClass.com and watch the short video (about 23 minutes) that I made for you. It’s free… You don’t even have to give me your email.)

Hey guys, today I want to talk with you about this connection between gluten, glyphosate, and our gut. (I could even throw in another G, and that would be genetically modified foods!) But the relationship between these three things is really, I believe, starting to show itself as being one of the major reason why we’re seeing this tremendous increase in autoimmune type diseases in our society.

First of all, if we’re talking about gluten, we have to understand that what we see in terms of grains containing gluten is different than what it used to be.

What is gluten? Let’s define that first. It’s a mix of two proteins. It’s what gives the dough its elastic qualities in grains like wheat, barley, and rye. So, we have many individuals today that are gluten sensitive. In my past 30 some years, I’ve seen a tremendous increase in the number of people who are sensitive to gluten. I always had this question: why?

The bible talks about wheat. God gave us wheat. Our ancestors ate wheat. Jesus fed his people bread. So, what’s changed?

Well, first of all, we have to understand the wheat that we’re eating today is different than biblical wheat, which it’s still available today by the way! It’s called einkorn, and it has 14 chromosomes. The wheat today has been changed through hybridization, and it has 42 chromosomes.

What used to be four foot high fields of wheat is today one to two foot high fields of wheat. It’s obviously a changed product. It used to be high protein, low sugar. Today it’s higher sugar, lower in protein. By some estimates, there’s three times as much gluten in modern wheat compared to ancient wheat. So, in and of itself, just this hybridization, what man has done to the wheat has changed the wheat. It’s also less nutritious too, by the way. So, that’s the first issue.

The second thing is herbicides, specifically one called glyphosate. How many of you are familiar with that? You’re going to be hearing more and more about it. You see, glyphosate is an herbicide in products like Roundup, the stuff that a lot of you probably use on your lawn or use really for weeds in your landscaping. The World Health Organization has deemed glyphosate as tremendously toxic. It’s been compared to DDT. It kills so many different types of weeds, grasses, and plant life across the world. It’s just that toxic.

We know that in human beings it can create fertility issues, it can create upset to the microbiome in your gut, it can create issues with enzymes that have to do with your body’s ability to detoxify, and it can create DNA damage. That’s just a short list!

There was a man recently in San Francisco that was awarded 289 million dollars by a court because he has terminal cancer right now and they believe it was linked to his job where he used to spray Roundup. The World Health Organization has said that it is a probable carcinogen. I think we’re going to be seeing more and more about this because Monsanto has tried to keep a lid on it for obvious economic reasons, and that lid now is starting to come off. We’re starting to see really the effects of this.

There’s a researcher at MIT, her name is Doctor Stephanie Seneff. I would encourage you to Google her name. Look at what she has done. She’s spent a good portion of the last so many years studying the effect of glyphosate in the human body, and it’s truly a scary thing. But here’s the thing that we need to know, scientists have genetically modified a lot of our foods, right.

Some of these genetically modified foods are termed to be, or deemed to be, “Roundup-ready”. Meaning, they have been specifically engineered so that they can accept large quantities of this Roundup, and it doesn’t affect. It doesn’t kill the plant, but it kills all of the weeds around the plant so that they can increase harvest. That’s the sole purpose for it. So, understanding that these genetically modified foods can withstand more glyphosate, that’s one part of the problem. They’re dousing them in glyphosate.

The other part of the problem is that now they’re spraying conventional foods that are not genetically modified like wheat and other things like peanuts. They are being bombarded with this glyphosate also. They will even spray it at the end of its lifecycle to desiccate it. That, to me, is unbelievable if you think about it. They’re not even using it for its intended purpose.

Here’s the bad part: Stephanie Seneff has shown that you can’t wash this stuff off. It will soak into the food itself, and it will invade every cell in that plant. So, you’re not going to be able to get rid of it.

We are feeding our children things like Cheerios that have been shown in research to contain glyphosate, finger food for our children. That’s a scary thing when you realize what glyphosate can do.

I want to just touch on that quickly too because I’ve mentioned some of the things it’ll do. As it relates to the gut, glyphosate will poke holes in your gut. Stephanie Seneff has shown how it begins to break down the lining of that gut, and it will also open up what are called tight junctions in the gut. Tight junctions in the lining of our gut are supposed to keep in nutrients so that they can be properly digested and it’s supposed to keep out any type of foreign invader.

Well, whenever glyphosate comes in contact, it opens up these tight junctions and it allows now the passage of undigested food particles into the bloodstream. That causes an inflammatory response, your immune system goes on high alert, and it begins trying to destroy these things that shouldn’t be in the blood. It’s causing food allergies. It’s creating just a general inflammatory response throughout the cells of our body. I believe it’s playing a major role in the autoimmune diseases that we’re seeing skyrocket in our society today.

Here’s an interesting thing: when gluten comes in contact with glyphosate, the glyphosate makes the gluten unable to be properly digested. It takes cross-links on different amino acids for gluten to be digested, and what glyphosate does is it won’t allow those cross-links to happen. So, glyphosate is passing undigested into the body, into the bloodstream. These tight junctions are opened up, glyphosate is causing these glutens to be able to enter the bloodstream mostly undigested. That creates this massive immune response, an inflammatory response, throughout the body. I believe, after reading what I’ve read, that it in large part has to explain what we’re seeing in this explosion of people that are sensitive to gluten-containing grains (and honestly grains in particular) because, as I said, so many of these grains are being doused with the glyphosate.

So, could this be the reason why we’re seeing this tremendous problem today? That we’re seeing increases in things like celiac disease, and these other autoimmune diseases. Could it be tied back into this proliferation that we’re seeing in the use of glyphosate?

By some estimates, I’ve read that in the last 10 years the glyphosate use has increased by over 800%. I think we’re seeing the result of that. So, I hope this makes you think that if you’re feeding your children grains, you want to make sure that those grains, especially things like corn chips, and any type of grain that your child would be eating, you want to make sure that it is not genetically modified. By the way, most corn is. About 90%! So, you want to make sure that it’s certified organic.

My opinion is that for a lot of you, you need to get rid of all grains altogether for a period of time. We need to work on fixing that gut. If you’re going to eat wheat, you want to look for einkorn. It’s an ancient wheat. You can make your own bread. Just look into it. Try to get rid of these modern wheats that we have, certainly ones that are doused in glyphosate. Get rid of genetically modified foods altogether, they’re just not healthy for us. They’re upsetting the balance that God put in this world from the beginning. So, I hope it’s making you think a little bit. I hope this helps. Take care, guys.

God bless,

Dr. Bill Cole
