Your Immune System
“Better Health Begins At The Cell.” -Dr. Bill Cole
Hey everybody, today I want to talk with you about our immune systems. If you like the information you’re about to read, though, click on the link above for more information or go to ColeClass.com
Guys, our immune system is under siege in this country. We have so many autoimmune disorders that not too long ago didn’t exist. Can I give you an example? My grandson went to a school that you were not allowed to bring any food that contains peanuts in because children in the school were so immunologically compromised that even contacting peanut dust could claim their lives. Did that exist in my day? No. It didn’t exist. We never heard of such a thing. What we are seeing is this assault on our immune system. It’s coming from, largely, the things we are doing in our lives and the things we are exposed to.
Well, how about this? 70–80% of our immune system lies in our gut.
When I go to a talk and I have 100 people in a room and I ask them, “How many of you have bloating or acid reflux or heartburn or constipation, bouts of diarrhea?” Nearly the whole room will raise their hands. It’s because of what the heck we’re doing to ourselves today, guys. We are damaging our gut. In the process, if 70–80% of our immune system lies in our gut, if you want a healthy, strong immune system, you have to have a healthy, strong gut. Here’s some of my basic advice for you.
Number one, get rid of the sugars. We are consuming way too many sugars. The average American consumes 120 to 150 pounds of sugar per person per year. You know, people say to me, “Well, I don’t even use sugar. We don’t even have it in my home.” You need to look at the list of ingredients in the foods that you’re eating. From dextrose to maltose, to fructose, to high fructose corn syrup, to corn syrup, to barley malt or rice syrup..the list is huge! We are getting multiple sugars in many of our foods and that’s how we get to this 120 to 150 pounds per person per year. That’s crazy.
We got to get rid of sugar, and then we want to start doing things that are going to improve the health of our gut. We have these little microbacteria in our gut. We call them our microbiome. These microscopic non-seeable bugs that live inside of our gut help us with so many functions. Science is showing more and more of what this internal ecology is responsible for. All the way from how your brain works to the ability to lose weight to your ability to sleep well at night, so much of it is related to your gut. I always talk about the fact that the father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, said over two thousand years ago that all disease begins in the gut. There was a focus even way back then, an understanding of how important this gut is to our health.
To foster a healthy internal environment, we wanna be eating foods that are probiotic rich. I like things like raw sauerkraut, like kimchi, like raw homemade kafir from raw milk. That is loaded with probiotics. Then we want to eat foods that are going to feed the good bacteria in our body. Things like leeks, onions, and garlic. These prebiotic foods will help support and sustain the good bacteria that we need inside of our gut.
Then, one of my favorites, of course, something that I always recommend is bone broth. If you can make your own bone broth, it’s going to be your cheapest way to do it. The stuff that’s any good that’s sold commercially is basically like liquid gold. If you’re willing to pay that, great.
If you want to really do it for pennies on the dollar, make some at home. Get yourself a crock pot. There are all kinds of recipes online, but you want to make sure that the bones are from grass fed beef, free range chicken, wild fish, or however you’re making your bone broth. The bone broth is going to be loaded with good things that will help support a healthy gut and help heal any damage that’s been done to the gut. With the bone broth, I would recommend maybe one or two big steaming mugs a day, especially in the beginning if you’ve got gut problems.
So, there’s a brief list for you guys to get started with. Get rid of the sugar, add fermented vegetables and prebiotic foods to support the good bacteria, and add bone broth to your diet. You’re going to see great results.
I hope this helped. If you wanna learn more information like this, go to ColeClass.com.
Take care, guys. God bless.
